Focus on Polish Jazz in 2018 at jazzahead!
We proudly announce that Poland was chosen to be next year's jazzahead! partner country. MESSE BREMEN has invited Poland to be its partner country at the trade fair as well as the 2018 edition of the festival.
Mats Gustafsson, free jazz saxophone player, in an interview in Gazeta Magnetofonowa nr 1.
(…) I think the Polish scene is really interesting due to the very high diversity of individuals taking part in it. And there are actually no clearly-defined directions or styles. It is all in there: free jazz, noise, improv, harsh electronics, alt rock etc. – the spectrum is very wide. And that, in my opinion, is a great thing. (…) With artists like Komeda, Zbigniew Seiffert, Stańko, Włodzimierz Nahorny and many more… you really have an amazing history to draw from and work with, or against.
We are honoured to showcase the potential of the contemporary Polish jazz scene in Bremen. The focus will be broader however, including a two-week cultural programme co-ordinated by Don’t Panic We’re From Poland and Niepodległa, during which we will present a wider look into Polish culture. We are going to make sure the 13th edition of jazzahead! turns out to be a lucky one!
jazzahead! combines a showcase, conference, exhibition and a festival, and is a meeting point for the international jazz scene. Since its premiere in 2006, it has become the must-go networking event for the global jazz scene.
